So, I survived East Coast Primary School's Primary 4 camp.
It sure is horrendous.
Compared to SCGS, they were pretty scary. There's kids who sabo-ed their friends, there's kids with strong attitude problems. But all these, I treat it as part of my learning journey of my internship.
Yes, the five of us did made mistakes during the first day, but the trainers' night debrief was a wake-up call for us. Second day, we did much better in Ismail's and Azlan's point of view. But for myself, I felt that I didn't really take good care of my kids on the other hand, I was quite annoyed with their attitude and their comments.
You think that primary four students are as innocent as you think?
Like what I'd always say,
never judge a book by it's cover.
Why?
The primary fours are more matured than I thought of them.
They were like doing explicit actions/saying things they are not supposed to say when I'd squat down to tie my shoe laces and seventy percent of them are in a relationship.
Yes, they are primary four students, ten year olds.
I thought my kids were alright but after what Naz told me what his kids said, I began to have a different mindset.
But all in all, the experience was good.
First time being emcee was alright. I was surprisingly calm when it came to breakfast despatch and campfire.
I didn't know that the emcee for campfire needs to do so much things not only to plan but to also put your plan to work.
I stayed up until 3+am to do homework for breakfast despatch and do some planning for campfire in case Naz and I didn't have time for planning. In the end, I felt as if I was the emcee i/c.
After breaking camp, went to Vivo city with Dragonfly and her friend, Kenneth. Jalan jalan around then we headed home.
Metta School CampI just ended camp today.
Learnt how to empathize those kids who are mentally challenged.
Really, I don't know why I've treated my kids from Metta much kinder than usual. Maybe it's my empathy machine working or something.
Yes they are slow, but then they completed Challenge Valley, Challenge Rope Course and Flying Fox.
I was proud that during final debrief, they mentioned the debrief topics that I have set for them.
HAHA!
Anyway, I'm wondering why my stay in Sarimbun always so short. LOL!
Oh well, at least we're with great company, there's Azlan, Saliha (Wayne was supposed to be the Camp Chief but cannot make it for camp due to some things) , Khai Veg, Khai Wet, Jeffrey, Jason, Nisa and Dragonfly.
These six people can make me laugh till my stomach muscles ache. XD
Kay lar, gotta go hit the sacks already.
